Seabird picked for survey off Namibia


Global Petroleum has struck a deal with Seabird Exploration to buy 834-kilometres worth of 2D seismic data covering a Namibian licence. The survey will provide London and Brisbane-based Global Petroleum with more detail on the Gemsbok prospect. The survey will start late June or early July and take about two weeks to complete.


Cairn shares surge on Senegal well “connectivity”

Cairn Energy shares rose after revealing an appraisal well offshore Senegal confirmed “good connectivity” to another site drilled by the firm. The Edinburgh-based exploration and production firm said the results meant it was now on track to submit a development plan for the field to the Senegal government next year.


SeaBird Exploration wins contract for seismic work off Africa


SeaBird Exploration said it had found a month’s work for its Osprey Explorer in West Africa during the current quarter. Seabird said the ship would carry out a 2D seismic survey for an unspecified client. The company, which has a fleet of five vessels, is listed on the Oslo stock exchange with headquarters in Cyprus.
