Energy Voice has strengthened its editorial team with the appointment of a leading analyst who specialises in Asia Pacific.
The appointment is the latest step in Energy Voice’s ambitious plans to expand its presence in key strategic regions.
New recruit Damon Evans, who is based in Indonesia, has covered the energy sector for 15 years, with experience in politics, economics, corporates, markets, renewables, oil, gas, technology, finance, and geopolitics.
Previously, Damon was the Asia correspondent for Interfax Global Energy, as well as the Asia Pacific bureau chief for Petroleum Economist, where he led the journal’s regional coverage. He started his journalism career on the energy desk at Reuters in Singapore. Damon has also worked for Upstream, as a reporter and sub-editor in their Singapore bureau. He has been a regular contributor to Forbes and Nikkei Asia.
Before writing about energy, Damon worked at oil and gas projects in Far East Russia, Indonesia and Australia.
Damon said: “I am delighted to be joining the Energy Voice team at this exciting time. I am looking forward to bringing thoughtful news analysis and deeper insights on the Asia Pacific markets to our readers.”
Energy Voice editor Mark Lammey said: “We’ve had the pleasure of publishing Damon’s high quality content over the last year in his capacity as a freelancer, so to be able to secure him full time is a real boost for the team.
“This appointment shows EV is serious about giving its subscribers value for money.”
Echoing those comments, Ryan Stevenson, head of Energy Voice, said: “As the January transfer window closes, it is a real coup for us to add someone of Damon’s pedigree to our peerless editorial team.
“Having such an experienced editor based in Asia reaffirms our commitment to expanding our international coverage and truly leading the global energy conversation.”
