Kazakhstan-focused explorer Max Petroleum has been boosted after finding oil on its latest prospect in the country.
The London-listed firm said it had found a seven metre net pay discovery at its appraisal well on the East Kyzylzhar I field.
The ‘excellent’ discovery, found over a 22m gross interval, is to be cased ahead of testing.
Work will now switch to a neighbouring site for the next appraisal well on the field.
