A north-east pipeline technology firm has netted its largest ever contract 20 years on from its establishment.

Kintore-based Stats Group said the contract was worth £14.2million and had been awarded by an unspecified national oil company in the Middle East.

Stats will support a project to restore a refinery by managing site services and major subcontractors.

Its duties include isolating numerous pipelines at the refinery.

The contract will be managed by Stat’s team in Abu Dhabi.

The company was set up in Aberdeen on February 16, 1998, by current chairman Pete Duguid.

It now employs 210 people across locations in the UK, Canada, the US, the Middle East and Malaysia.

Stats chief executive Leigh Howarth said: “Our objective is to minimise plant downtime and complete the work as safely and efficiently as possible.

“As we celebrate our 20th anniversary, we are delighted to secure our largest contract to date.

“This award further strengthens our reputation as a leading provider of pipeline isolation services and underlines our capability for undertaking large international projects.”
