Bibby Offshore has been awarded a “significant” contract for subsea construction works in TAQA’s Eider field, located 184km north-east of Shetland.
The firm will use multiple vessels to fulfill the six month contract, with offshore operations to be completed this summer.
Subsea support and construction vessel Olympic Ares and diving support vessel Bibby Polaris will be be used to connect a number of existing pipelines in the region.
Barry Macleod, UKCS managing director at Bibby Offshore said: “Our multi-vessel approach enabled the project team to tailor our capabilities to TAQA’s requirements, which plays a key role in demonstrating our ability to successfully deliver a variety of workscopes.
“We have supported TAQA’s operations previously and are delighted to have been selected to continue and strengthen this relationship throughout 2017.”
The Eider field was discovered in May 1976. Estimated recovery is 85 million barrels (13,500,000 m3) of oil.
