Technology and training organisation 3T Energy Group has appointed a new executive vice president to spearhead its ambitious global growth plans.

Niels Meissner will be responsible for expanding the group’s global reach in key oil and gas territories including the Americas, China, the Middle East and Africa, as well as strengthening existing customer relationships.

Mr Meissner has a wealth of experience in the oil and gas sector having worked in senior executive roles in the US, Middle East and Africa for the past 13 years.

Prior to 3T, Mr Meissner served as the vice president of business development and marketing at global drilling solutions giant, MHWirth.

Before that Mr Meissner headed up the sales and business development division at National Oilwell Varco helping to almost double sales for the business across the Middle East and Africa.

As well as a degree in petroleum engineering from the Colorado School of Mines, he holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University in Chicago.

He joins 3T Energy Group as executive vice president of global sales and marketing and will sit on the executive board helping to drive the Group forward.

3T Energy Group combines the expertise of advanced simulator developer and manufacturer, Drilling Systems with leading energy training providers, AIS Training and Survivex and virtual technology specialist, Neutron VR to bring a radically different ‘blended learning’ approach to energy sector training.

This approach uses cutting-edge technology such as simulators, e-learning, virtual reality and integrated software, alongside traditional training, to increase the competence levels of energy sector personnel and reduce ‘skills fade’ by ensuring skills and confidence levels are maintained and remain fresh.

Chief Executive Officer of 3T Energy Group, Kevin Franklin, said: “We are delighted to welcome Niels to the 3T family. Niels will be responsible for supporting the 3T drive in global sales and marketing across all of the Group’s businesses. He brings exceptional experience of the oil and gas industry and therefore has a deep understanding of the market and our customers’ needs. His expertise will help us add additional value across our product and service portfolio and support our ethos of putting the client at our heart to achieve the highest levels of customer service. We are very much looking forward to benefitting from his proven business acumen, drive and energy.”

Mr Meissner said: “I’m thrilled to be joining such a dynamic, ambitious and transformational business as the 3T Energy Group. The Group has an unrivalled customer offering which includes world-class training facilities, an extensive portfolio of industry-approved courses, integrated software platforms, simulation, digital technologies and an unmatched customer footprint. These progressive training solutions are truly transforming the energy training sector landscape by increasing safety, reducing cost and creating a highly-competent and more efficient workforce. It’s fantastic to now be part of this exciting journey.”
