A new chairman with more than 30 years of experience in the oil and gas sector has been appointed to the board of an African mineral company.
Base Resources Limited have named Keith Spence – who has worked with both Shell and Woodside – as an independent non-executive director.
The firm said he will bring significant resource sector, international and corporate development experience to their team.
They added he would form part of an evolution of the board.
Mr Spence retired from Woodside in 2008 after 14 years holding senior executive roles, many spent as chief executive.
He is currently the chairman of the National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority.
He is also chairman of the Industry Advisory Board of the Australian Centre for Energy and Process Training and a member of the Curtin University Council.
Mr Spence is also the non-executive chairman of Geodynamics Limited and non-executive director of Oil Search Limited and Independence Group NL.
