A 60MW wind farm has been commissioned in Utah this week with technical support from Scottish renewable energy consultancy, SgurrEnergy.
SgurrEnergy provided engineering services and technical due diligence for developer sPower on the Latigo Wind Farm, located along the foothills of the Abajo Mountains, northwest of Monticello.
The Wood Group owned company’s scope of work included contracting support, review of the project’s civil and electrical design, construction monitoring and technical advice in support of substantial completion.
Construction of the 27 GE 2.3MW turbines was completed in December 2015 and the wind farm began generating energy in January 2016.
Principal consultant at SgurrEnergy, Bill Follett, said: “Working alongside sPower to complete this project in a short timescale has been rewarding and this experience has allowed us to continue to support them in their continued expansion into the onshore wind sector.”
The 60MW wind farm is expected to produce enough energy annually to power up to 14,000 homes.
