Video: ABB installs world’s most powerful offshore converter station

ABB has reached an important milestone after installing the DolWin beta which is said to be the world’s most powerful offshore converter station in the North Sea. The 320-kilovolt converter station is housed on an offshore platform and has 916 megawatts (MW) power transmission capacity. It has enough energy to power more than 1million households with clean energy.

ABB wins $50million FLNG contract

Automation and technology group ABB has won a contract worth more than $50million to supply an electrical system for one of the world’s first floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) facilities. The contract was awarded in the fourth quarter of 2014 by Japanese engineering contractor JGC Corporation. JGC is part of a consortium that is building the facility for Petronas along with the Samsung Heavy Industries of Korea.
