A Fugro vessel being used in the search for missing Malaysian Airlines flight MH370 has been temporarily put out of action – after a towfish being used in the search crashed into a 2200-metre mud volcano. The company has been providing support to find the missing flight which disappeared in March 2014 with 239 people on board.

The company is working in conjunction with Diavaz on the project which will support exploration drilling activities in the Bay of Campeche and deepwater locations in the Perdido area.
UK company Fugro has integrated and restructured several business units under one name - Fugro GeoServices.
Fugro has delivered a bespoke structural monitoring system for Exxon Neftegas to help monitor the structural integrity of its Berkut oil platform. The site, in the Arkutun Dagi field, is one of the world’s largest floatover platforms and has been designed so that topsides are isolated from the base using FPB (friction pendulum bearings). Fugro was commissioned to provide an integrated system which would be able to both monitor the seismic response of the platform and the performance of FPB’s.
Fugro has continued its expansion into Africa with the establishment of a new base in Ghana. The company has set up a base in Accra, which will provide it with support as it extends its business into the oil and gas market in West Africa. Fugro has also established a partnership with Lima Oil Services in the region.
Dutch-firm Fugro GEOS has been awarded a contract by oil giant BP for the provision of wellhead and riser monitoring services. The contact will support BP drilling activities for the Quad 204 redevelopment of the Schiehallion field west of Shetland.
