A tanker carrying a gas oil payload broke down off the Outer Hebridean island of Barra last night.
The 420-foot Ievoli Black vessel, which weighs over 2000 tonnes, was carrying a crew of 14 when it suffered a gearbox failure 12 miles from Barra.
An HM Coastguard Emergency Towing Vessel was sent out as a precaution.
The tanker experienced the failure at 9pm on Tuesday evening and still remains off the Scottish coastline despite resuming power at 9:30am this morning.
At present, the ship is currently doing almost 6.8 knots as it moves toward Barra.
