Energy giant Equinor has been granted consent by the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway for the exploration of the “Intrepid Eagle” prospect.
The 7324/3-1 well is situated in the Barents Sea and is around 172 kilometres south-east of Bjornoya in production licence 615.
The drilling consent granted to Equinor to investigate the Intrepid Eagle prospect is scheduled to begin in mid-august 2018 and is estimated to last 28 days, depending on whether a discovery is made.
The well is to be drilled by the West Hercules mobile drilling facility, a semi-submersible drilling facility of the GVA 7500 type, operated by North Atlantic Drilling.
West Hercules was issued with an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) by the PSA in December 2012.
