Apache’s newest addition to the Forties fleet is undergoing the second power testing of its gas turbines.
The testing, which involves using resistive loadbanks on the Forties Alpha Satellite Platform (FASP) gas turbines, is carried out by UK-based Crestchic Loadbanks.
“As the turbines provide power to the entire Forties field via a power ring main system – it was crucial that we ensure they can cope with the intense power loads expected,” said Frazer Milligan of Apache Corporation.
“We needed a robust and reliable testing partner and Crestchic was able to provide the solution we needed, fast.”
The Forties Alpha platform will operate on 18 new production well-slots while also undertaking gas compression and power generation.
The production is meant to start in autumn this year expected to reach 25,000 barrels of oil per day (bpd).
