The Arnish fabrication yard on Lewis is to get a £2million shot in the arm from a Scottish investment fund aimed at boosting low carbon and green projects, it has been announced today.
The cash, part of £26million of investment announced by Scottish Government finance Secretary John Swinney, will go towards plant and estate improvements at the yard.
The Arnish fabrication yard, run by Burntisland Fabrications, makes parts for the renewables industry.
Last year it manufactured foundation piles for Edinburgh-based wave power firm Aquamarine Power, installed off Orkney.
The £26million investment is part of an overall £105million package of economic stimulus announced by Mr Swinney last month.
