Lundin Petroleum has been granted a drilling permit in the North Sea by the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD).
The company said well 7220/6-2 will be drilled from the Leiv Eiriksson drilling facility.
The work relates to an extension of a previous wildcat well drilled last year.
Lundin Norway is the operator with a 40% interest.
The production licence was awarded in the 21st licensing round in 2011.
Earlier today Statoil also received approval for a drilling permit.
