Drax Group has announced it will appoint a new non-executive director.

John Baxter will join the UKBritish electrical power generation firm from Powergen and boasts 45 years in the energy sector.

Mr Baxter has worked across nuclear, electricity and latterly the oil and gas sector.

Between 2004 and 2015 he was at BP, most recently as group head of engineering and process safety.

Philip Cox, Chair of Drax, said:  “I am delighted that John is joining the Board.

“His extensive experience gained in the energy sectors, focussed on critical operational services at both multi-national and UK based businesses, will strengthen our board and support Drax as we continue to focus on both growing our capabilities and continuing to deliver operational excellence.”

Last year, Scottish Power moved to 100% wind power after selling the last of its gas plants to Drax Group.
