Former Carillion boss resigns from Wood board

A former chief executive of bankrupt engineering firm Carillion has resigned as a non-executive director Aberdeen oil service giant Wood.

Richard Howson led Carillion, one of the builders of the Aberdeen city bypass, from 2012 until July 2017.

Mr Howson was due to continue earning a £660,000 salary until October in line with his severance terms.

Carillion collapsed earlier this week with debts of £1.29billion.

Wood said Mr Howson had left his non-executive director role at the company “with immediate effect”. He had been appointed in 2016.
