Newcastle based Maersk Training has hired the first female instructor to its wind energy division.
Lynn Lowes, from Washington in Tyne and Wear, adds 14 years of experience in first aid and training to the company’s North Shields facilities.
As part of a nine-person Maersk Wind training team, she will be the lead instructor for Maersk’s safety diploma.
“This sector has been dominated by men for as long as I can remember and there is no real reason for it,” Lowes said.
“It is a fast growing industry, which is having a positive impact on the economy and as such the need for skilled professionals to work within it will continue to grow . I just hope my success will encourage more women to jump on board.”
