Ambitious plans for a new Energy Hub have been unveiled with hopes for hundreds of jobs and to make giant oil and gas fields in the West of Shetland "net zero by 2030”.
The global oil and gas sector will see “virtually no new oil fields” sanctioned in the 2030s, according to an analysis by financial specialists Carbon Tracker.
Aker Solutions has set out plans to derive 20% of its revenue from renewables and 25% from low-carbon solutions by 2030.
All new cars registered in Germany need to be emissions free by 2030 at the latest to help meet pollution reduction goals, a senior government official said.
Doubling the share of renewables in the global energy mix by 2030 is feasible, but only with concerted action to jump-start their use in transport, building and industry. Bioenergy is seen as being a critical component to achieving this objective. And if it is, then the sector could “sustain 24.4million jobs worldwide” just 15 years from now.
