King Lear well

Statoil has started drilling its 100million barrels oil equivalent King Lear prospect on Norwegian North Sea block 2/4. According to the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate, the jack-up drilling rig Maersk Gallant is expected to take about 166 days to drill the 2/4-21 wildcat well approximately 18km (11 miles) north of the Ekofisk field in some 67m of water.

ESCOPETA Oil has fallen foul of the US Jones Act and been fined the equivalent of the value of the jack-up drilling rig Spartan 151 ... about $15million, for using a foreign-flagged vessel to transport the rig from Texas to Alaska's Cook Inlet.

THE Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) has reported that the exploration well drilled by ConocoPhillips Skandinavia on block 2/4 of the Norwegian sector of the North Sea failed to encounter hydrocarbons.
