Irish state-owned energy company ESB will partner with EDF Renewables to deliver the Stornoway wind farm on the Isle of Lewis.

Last month, when the much anticipated announcement was made of winners and losers under the Contracts for Difference scheme, it seemed the 20 year struggle for the Western Isles to be connected for generation purposes to the National Grid had finally prevailed.
Nearly 1.6GW of Scottish onshore wind and solar projects will receive backing under the latest clean energy procurement round, marking a promising return for the cheapest forms of new energy generation.
Scottish ministers have approved additional consents for the Stornoway Wind Farm on Lewis, allowing developers the option of larger and more modern turbines.
