EET Fuels has revealed images of plans for Europe's first hydrogen-ready combined heat and power plant at its Stanlow oil refinery, with the aim of completing construction by 2027.
In a milestone for the nascent UK hydrogen industry, EET Fuels (formerly Essar Oil UK) has confirmed that it will be the first commercial supplier of hydrogen-generated, low-carbon power to the UK grid from its Stanlow Manufacturing Complex at Ellesmere Port, Cheshire.
Essar said hydrogen and biofuels are becoming globally significant fuels. “The UK is positioned strongly to spearhead the rapid growth of the European low carbon fuels market,” it said. “The UK already benefits from an advanced regulatory and policy framework to support low carbon energy production”.
