Australia's Liquefied Natural Gas Ltd is progressing with its Magnolia LNG project in Louisiana with the expiry of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s Draft Environmental Impact Statement comment period.

Baker Hughes is set to make job reductions in the US. According to reports, the company will temporarily close a plant in Louisiana with the loss of 60 positions. The move is part of wider staffing changes being made across the company.
Petsec Energy has started drilling a well at its West Crab Lake exploration gas project in Louisiana. Drilling began earlier this week and will be drilled to a true vertical depth of 12,500 to test multiple Lower Miocene age Marg and Discorbis sand reservoirs in a fault closure syncline. The company has a 20% non-operating working interest (15.5% net revenue interest) in the well before payout.
Petroquest has made a discovery at its Thunder Bayou prospect in Louisiana. The company said it logged 490 gross feet of high quality pay within the primary Cris R2 objective. Petroquest has a 50% working interest and 37% net revenue interest in the well.
Apache has agreed to sell off assets in Louisiana and the Anadarko Basin for $1.4billion in two separate transactions. The company said the first deal will involve the sale of 90,000 net acres of mature fields in Southern Louisiana. The mature fields, which it said were characterised by high decline rates and short reserve lives, produced 21,000 BOE (Barrels of Oil Equivalent) per day.
Technip has been awarded an engineering and procurement contract for a chemical ethylene plant expansion in Louisiana. The award will see the French company provide its services to expand the recovery section of Westlake’s Petro 1 ethylene plant at its complex in Sulphur. Technip’s operating centre in Houston will execute the project with support from the group’s office in Mumbai.
