Axed employees of North Sea oil and gas firms attending a careers fair at Robert Gordon University said yesterday they were ready to embrace opportunities in other sectors. Others said the lack of opportunities in the north-east had become chronic and they were even contemplating uprooting their families and leaving the region. More than 1000 people affected by redundancies from the oil and gas sector have attended a free event in Aberdeen offering help and advice.
Around 800 people attend a jobs fair in Aberdeen today as the the Energy Jobs Taskforce met in the city to drive forward work supporting more than 2,500 individuals and 100 employers through the current downturn in the oil and gas industry.
