“It's been a bad time for me I must admit, a horrendous time.” That’s how Tony*, a former drilling maintenance supervisor from Dundee, describes the impact this year has had on him as an offshore worker.
A new survey has been launched by Platform and Friends of the Earth Scotland to hear from workers in the oil and gas industry and supply chain about how COVID-19 and the oil price crash have impacted their working life. Hundreds of workers have already responded, detailing their experience in the industry, their fears around job security and what type of future they want.
An offshore worker has given an insight into his working day on Maersk Oil’s Tyra East platform in the Danish North Sea. Using a Go-Pro, Henrik Udengaard, a technical supervisor for the company, captured what his daily routine is like. Take a look at the fantastic footage below.
