The company said this was larger than its previous largest order, which was for 16 methanol-power containerships, worth 3.95trn won ($3bn).

The Australian listed company said it had made progress on the project during the last few months, with total costs now estimated to be $325 million. Costs to reach first production are $250mn. Previously, it had forecast total costs to be $303mn.

Bangladesh seeks contractor to build first onshore LNG terminal

The government of Bangladesh has shortlisted eight potential global companies, including ExxonMobil and TotalEnergies, as well as various Japanese players, to build the South Asian nation’s first onshore liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminal. BHP ordered to clean up fields offshore Australia

Australia’s offshore environment and safety regulator NOPSEMA has ordered BHP to clean up three offshore fields following years of “limited action” and equipment sinking to the seabed, reported BoilingCold. This will add to the decommissioning burden Woodside will inherit if it absorbs BHP’s oil and gas assets as part of a deal announced last month.

ExxonMobil plans exploration drilling in giant Indonesian Block

US supermajor ExxonMobil said it is planning to restart exploration drilling at its giant Cepu Block in Indonesia, despite rumours that it is looking to divest its interest, in a bid to find new reserves. Cepu, which holds the Banyu Urip project, one of Southeast Asia’s biggest oil developments, is Indonesia’s largest oil producing block.

Eni eyes more drilling offshore Vietnam

Italy’s Eni is believed to be carrying out studies in Blocks 115 and 116 offshore Vietnam with an eye to planning a single-well drilling campaign during the first-half 2022, Westwood Global Energy said in its latest report. The blocks are a short distance from Eni’s large Ken Bau discovery offshore Vietnam.

Investment nod for Shell’s Timi gas project off Malaysia

Shell and its partners, Petronas Carigali and Brunei Energy Exploration, have taken a final investment decision (FID) on the Timi sweet gas development offshore Malaysia that will help boost the country’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports. Significantly, Shell said the development marks its first offshore wellhead platform to be powered by solar and wind in Malaysia.

Indonesia approves BP’s CCS scheme for Tangguh LNG

BP and its Tangguh LNG partners today confirmed that Indonesian oil and gas regulator SKK Migas has approved the plan of development (POD) for a key carbon capture utilisation and storage (CCUS) project at the Tangguh LNG export complex. Significantly, BP claims this will make Tangguh "one of the lowest greenhouse gas (GHG) intensity liquefied natural gas (LNG) plants in the world."

Chevron’s Thailand decommissioning campaign in limbo

Chevron is responsible for decommissioning dozens of platforms at the giant Erawan Block, which it will hand over to Thai national oil company PTT Exploration & Production (PTTEP) in April 2022, when its concessionary contract expires. Indian Oil Corporation said Friday that it is expanding its joint venture with Malaysian state-backed energy company Petronas to include building liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminals, as well fuel retailing and gas distribution in India. Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) is already imported by Indian Oil under an equal joint venture with Petronas called IndianOil Petronas.
